Asmat Kurshavishvili's Rear Embroidery

The self taught artist Asmat Kurshavishvili lives in Tbilisi. Having extraordinary vision and refined hand Ms. Kurshavishvili has mastered Georgian traditional embroidery, which originated in the ancient times.
Asmat took particular interest in the art back in her early childhood great merits to her mother and grandmother. She has achieved international acclaim in the last ten years. The pieces of the needlework created by Asmat Kurshavishvili were exhibited in Moscow (1997) in France and in Georgia (2000, 2001, 20003 and 2006).
The theme of every piece of embroidery is different, but the religious theme is dominant.
It is a miracle that in the last 10 years she has created more than one hundred icons! Asmat has the blessing of the Senior Priests of Kashveti Church (Tbilisi) and Athens Orthodox Church (Greece).
The pieces of the art created by Asmat Kurshavishvili attract the attention of those who take special interest in this trend. In the last few years, apart from religious themes she has used paintings of famous Georgian and foreign painters in her creative work, which has turned out to be a success.
A few weeks ago, the folk at commission of the Union of Georgian Artists, decided to award the title of Folk Craftsmanship Master to the artist.
